Billing stages in document review

Billing stages in document review

A document review in Curia Contract Review involves two separate billing stages: preflight and review.

What are the billing stages?

  • Preflight stage

    • Initial charge when a document is uploaded
    • Covers initial document processing and preflight report generation
    • Charged regardless of whether the review proceeds
  • Review stage

    • Additional charge when starting the review after preflight
    • Charged only if the review proceeds past preflight

How does billing work across months?

Each charge is applied in the month it occurs.

  • Example 1: Same month billing

    • January 15: Upload document (preflight fee charged)
    • January 16: Start review (review fee charged)
    • Result: Both charges appear on January invoice
  • Example 2: Split month billing

    • January 31: Upload document (preflight fee charged)
    • February 1: Start review (review fee charged)
    • Result: Preflight fee on January invoice, review fee on February invoice

What happens if I abandon a review?

  • Only the preflight fee is charged
  • No additional review fee is charged
  • The document can be reviewed later if needed. The review fee will be charged if this occurs.
