Using the Document Map
What is the Document Map?
The Document Map is a navigation tool that automatically identifies and organises the different sections within your contract PDF. Rather than scrolling through hundreds of pages, you can jump directly to any detected section using the dropdown menu.
Each section is labelled with its page number, document type, and relevant details extracted from the document - such as dealing numbers, title references, or certificate types.
How do I navigate using the Document Map?
The Document Map dropdown appears below the PDF viewer. To navigate:
- Click the dropdown to see all detected sections
- Select any section to jump directly to its first page
- The dropdown automatically shows your current section as you scroll
What sections are detected?
The Document Map identifies all common document types found in NSW contracts. Some examples:
- Title Search - Shows the title reference and plan type (Lot, Common Property, Neighbourhood)
- Dealing - Shows the dealing number and categories such as Mortgage, Transfer, Caveat, or Lease
- Title Diagram - Dealings with suffix 'P' that are linked to a title search
- Plan - Deposited Plans, Strata Plans, and other registered plans
- Planning Certificate
- And more
Understanding section labels
Section labels follow a consistent format that helps you quickly identify what you're looking at:
Format: [Page]: [Type] - [Reference] ([Details])
Examples
5: Title Search - LOT 1 DP 123456 (Lot)- A title search for lot-type property starting on page 550: Dealing - A123456 (Mortgage)- A mortgage dealing starting on page 5075: Dealing - A123456P (Title Diagram Lot)- A title diagram linked to a lot title search120: Planning Certificate- A planning certificate starting on page 12045: Dealing - Draft- A draft dealing that hasn't been registered yet
Using navigation history
When you jump between sections using the Document Map, Curia tracks your navigation history so you can easily return to where you were.
How it works
- After jumping to a new section, a Back button appears
- Click the dropdown arrow next to the Back button to see your last 5 visited sections
- Each entry shows the page number and section name
- Select any entry to return to that location
Navigation history is only created when you use the Document Map to jump between sections - normal scrolling doesn't add entries.
Smart navigation from review fields
Some review fields include navigation buttons that jump directly to relevant sections:
- Show Title Search - Appears when there's a mismatch between vendor names or title references. Jumps to the relevant Title Search section.
- Show Planning Certificate - Appears when the land address on the contract doesn't match the Planning Certificate. Jumps to the Planning Certificate section.
These buttons help you quickly verify information without manually searching through the document.
FAQ
Why is a section missing from the Document Map?
The Document Map relies on automatic detection, which may occasionally miss sections if the document quality is poor or the section format is unusual. If an important section isn't detected, you can still navigate to it manually using the PDF viewer's page controls.
Why does a Dealing show without a number?
Some dealings appear as just "Dealing" without a reference number when the dealing is in draft status or when the dealing number couldn't be extracted from the document. Draft dealings will show as "Dealing - Draft".
Can I add or edit sections in the Document Map?
No, the Document Map is generated automatically and cannot be manually edited. It's designed to provide quick navigation based on what's detected in your contract PDF.
