How a contract review works

The path a contract takes from upload to finished report, and where each step lives in Curia.

This article is the map: every step of a review in one place, each linking to the article that goes deep on it.

Upload

Every review starts with a PDF. Upload one file, or several when the contract arrived split across separate PDFs, and assign it to a reviewer. See Upload and assign new contracts.

Processing and Ready

After upload the review sits in Processing while Curia reads the contract and extracts its data. When that finishes the review turns Ready and the assigned reviewer is emailed. For what each state means and how a review moves between them, see Understanding review states.

Preflight

Opening a Ready review lands you on the Preflight tab. Preflight is the first pass on the contract: it checks the file for consistency, currency and completeness so you can decide whether it is ready to work. Click Start review to begin. See Understanding Preflight.

The review tabs

The review is split into tabs, each covering a part of the contract. Work through them in the order that suits the file, checking the values on each tab. See Review navigation for moving through the tabs, and Field functionality for how a single field works.

Amendments and questions

As you work, you raise requests to the vendor’s solicitor. An Amendment asks for the contract to be changed; a Question asks for information. Some come from advice on a field, some are carried in from Preflight, and you can add your own from any tab with Add Request. See Amendments and questions.

Finalise and download

The Finalise tab compiles every amendment and question into two lists for a final check. Generating the report locks the review fields and closes the review. You can still edit the draft, download it as Word, and reopen the review if you need to change anything. See Finalising and downloading your report.
