Importing matters from your CRM
When a practice management integration is connected, matters come from that system. Sync the ones you need and keep them up to date in Curia.
When your account has a practice management integration connected (such as triConvey or Smokeball), matters are created and managed in that system, not in Curia. You bring a matter into Curia by syncing it, either from the Matters page or when you upload a contract.
Curia doesn’t load your whole matter book up front. You sync the matters you’re actually working on, so the Matters page stays focused on current work.
Syncing a matter
On the Matters page, click Sync matter. Search for the matter by client name, matter number, or description, then select it. Confirm with Sync matter, and it becomes available in Curia.
A matter is also synced automatically when you upload a contract and pick a matter from your CRM. See Linking reviews to matters.
Matters from your CRM are read-only
A matter that comes from your CRM is managed in that system and shown read-only in Curia. Its detail page shows that it’s managed in your CRM, and the Edit matter button is disabled.
Make any changes to the matter in your CRM. They sync into Curia automatically, so the title, parties, status, and stage stay current without re-syncing by hand.
Matters deleted in your CRM
If a matter is deleted in your CRM, what happens in Curia depends on whether reviews are linked to it:
- If reviews are linked, Curia keeps the matter so those reviews aren’t lost. It’s marked with a Deleted badge.
- If no reviews are linked, the matter is removed from Curia.
Restoring the matter in your CRM brings it back to Curia automatically.
FAQ
Can I create a new matter in Curia while a CRM is connected?
No. New matters are created in your CRM. They sync into Curia when you sync the matter or upload a contract against it.
Do I need to sync a matter every time it changes in my CRM?
No. Once a matter is in Curia, changes in your CRM sync automatically. Syncing is only needed to bring a matter into Curia the first time.
