Processing documents with difficult-to-read pages

Curia can process most low-quality, handwritten, or skewed contracts. If you can read it, Curia can usually extract it.

Curia handles a range of difficult inputs: handwritten text and annotations, old-style fonts, blurry or skewed scans, faded text, and partially cropped pages. The contract goes through the same Preflight and Review process as any other upload.

When a page can’t be read

If a section of the contract can’t be read, the automatic extraction for that section will be incomplete. The fields that would have been populated stay empty, and you can fill them in by hand during the review. Other sections of the contract are not affected.

What to upload for the cleanest result

  • The highest-quality scan you have
  • Pages that aren’t cut off at the edges
  • Colour scans for handwritten content
  • 300 DPI or higher for challenging pages

FAQ

Curia missed a field on a difficult page. What now?

Type the value into the field by hand. The rest of the review continues as normal.

Can I rescan and re-upload to improve extraction?

Yes. Upload the cleaner version as a new contract. This will incur a new review fee.

Does scan quality affect Preflight checks?

Yes. Preflight compares values extracted from the contract against the registry documents. If extraction is incomplete on the contract side, a row may show a Warning where a Pass would have been possible.
