Active states

How an account's active states control which states appear on upload and what state-scoped settings are visible across the Library, Fields and Templates.

An account’s active states is the set of states it’s configured to work in. This setting controls which states appear in the upload state picker and which state-scoped settings are visible across the Library, Fields and Templates.

A new account starts with NSW. Contact Curia support to add or remove a state.

State selection on upload

When you upload a contract:

  • If your account has one active state, Curia sets that state automatically. No picker appears.
  • If your account has multiple active states, a Contract State picker appears on the upload form with the available states. Pick the one that matches the contract.

A contract’s state is set once on upload and stays fixed for the life of the review.

How active states cascade

Adding a state activates the state-scoped settings for that state across the account:

  • Library - the State filter on the Clauses, Dealings and Recommendations tabs becomes visible. On a multi-state account you’ll see separate tabs or filters for each state’s content.
  • Fields - the Fields settings page shows the State filter and the state-scoped fields become available to enable. See Configuring review fields.
  • Templates - the Template Dashboard lists templates for the new state alongside the existing ones, including the default report template for that state.
  • Recommendations - the Recommendations Library is filtered per state.

When a state is added, Curia seeds the default clauses, clause categories, dealings, recommendations and review fields for that state. Existing customisations on your other states are unaffected.

Billing

Adding a state adds per-state usage items to your billing. See Plan and billing for how multi-state usage is metered and shown.

FAQ

Can I add or remove a state myself?

No. Contact Curia support to change your account’s active states.

Can I change a contract’s state after upload?

No. The state is fixed when the contract is uploaded. Contact Curia support if a contract was uploaded under the wrong state.

Why don’t I see a state picker on upload?

Your account has only one active state, so Curia sets it automatically. The picker appears when an account has two or more active states.

What changes when a state is added?

The Library, Fields and Templates pages start showing the new state alongside the existing ones, with a state filter. Curia seeds the default clauses, clause categories, dealings, recommendations and review fields for the new state, and adds the corresponding usage items to your billing.
