Creating and managing contacts

Create, edit, and delete individual, company, and trust contact records in Curia Contract Review.

Creating contacts

To create a new contact, click New contact on the Contacts page. A form opens where you can choose the contact type and enter details.

Note: If your account has a practice management integration connected, the New contact button is not available. New contacts must be created in your practice management software and will sync to Curia automatically. See Working with synced contacts for details.

Creating an individual

Enter the person's details:

  • First name (required)
  • Middle name
  • Last name (required)
  • Email
  • Phone number

Creating a company

Enter the company details:

  • Company name (required)
  • ACN
  • Phone number
  • Address

Then add at least one individual contact. You can either search for an existing individual or create a new one inline.

Creating a trust

Enter the trust details:

  • Trust name (required)
  • Phone number
  • Address

Then add at least one individual contact, the same way as for companies.

Editing contacts

From the contact profile page, click Edit contact to open the edit form. You can update any of the contact's details.

For companies and trusts, you can also add or remove linked individuals during editing. Removing an individual from a company or trust only removes the relationship - the individual contact record is preserved.

Note: If a contact was imported from your practice management software, the Edit contact button is disabled with a lock icon. Changes must be made in the source system.

Deleting contacts

Deleting applies to contacts created in Curia. Contacts imported from a practice management integration cannot be deleted in Curia - they are managed in the source system. See Working with synced contacts for details.

To delete a Curia-created contact:

  • Open the contact's profile.
  • From the Contacts page table, click the action menu on the contact row and select Delete.
  • Confirm the deletion in the dialog.

Important: You cannot delete a contact that is linked to any reviews. Unlink the contact from all reviews first.

When you delete an individual who is linked to companies or trusts, they are automatically removed from those relationships. When you delete a company or trust, the linked individual contacts are preserved.

FAQ

Can I edit contacts imported from my practice management software?

No. Contacts imported from an external system are read-only in Curia. The Edit contact button is disabled and displays a lock icon. Make changes in your practice management software and they will sync to Curia.

Why can't I see the "New contact" button?

This happens when your account has a practice management integration connected. With an integration active, all new contacts must be created in your practice management software. These are then synced immediately with Curia for use.

Can I remove an individual from a company without deleting them?

Yes. When editing a company or trust, you can remove individual contacts from the relationship. This only unlinks them - the individual contact record remains in your Contacts list.

Why can't I delete a contact?

A contact cannot be deleted while it is linked to any reviews. Open the contact's profile, go to the Reviews tab, and unlink the contact from each review before deleting.
