Recommendations and amendments
How Curia builds Amendment and Recommendation text on each field, when to switch to Manual, and where the consolidated list lives on Finalise.
Every field that carries advice has two parts: an Amendment for the vendor’s solicitor and a Recommendation for your client. Curia fills both automatically where a rule applies, and you can take over either when the standard wording does not fit the file.
Amendment and Recommendation
The two parts sit one above the other on the expanded field.
- Amendment is the legal wording sent to the vendor’s solicitor.
- Recommendation is the plain-language explanation for your client.
The Amendment is what appears in the consolidated list on the Finalise tab. The Recommendation only appears in the generated report.

Advice mode
Each field has an Advice mode row that controls how the two parts are filled. Click Show additional details on the field to reveal it.
Fields with a rule offer three options: Auto, None, and Manual. Fields without a rule offer two: None and Manual.

Auto
The default for rule-based fields. When the rule’s conditions are met, Curia fills the Amendment and Recommendation from the rule. The text appears in sky-blue and is not editable, with a blue cog icon next to it so you can see at a glance that it came from a rule. If no rule triggers, no text is added.

None
Hides the Amendment and Recommendation for this field. Nothing appears for it in the report, and nothing appears for it on the Finalise tab. This is the default for fields without a rule.
Manual
Makes the Amendment and Recommendation text boxes editable. If you switch from Auto while a rule is displaying text, the rule’s wording is carried over as a starting point.

Switching out of Manual
Switching from Manual to Auto or None will discard any manual text that has been entered. A confirmation prompt will be shown before the change is applied.
Amendment requests on the Finalise tab
Open the Finalise tab to see every Amendment compiled under the Amendment requests heading. The list is a plain bulleted list of the Amendment text for each field where advice is active.
- Fields set to None or hidden are skipped.
- Only the Amendment text appears here. The Recommendation explanation is not shown on this tab; it appears in the generated report.
- Click Copy request list to copy every Amendment to your clipboard, ready to paste into an email to the vendor’s solicitor.

Adding advice to a field without a rule
Any field with advice enabled can carry a manual Amendment and Recommendation, even when no rule exists for it.
- Click Show additional details on the field.
- On the Advice mode row, select Manual.
- Fill in the Amendment and Recommendation boxes.
The Amendment then appears in the report and on the Finalise tab alongside the rule-based ones.

FAQ
What is the difference between an Amendment and a Recommendation?
The Amendment is the formal wording for the vendor’s solicitor. The Recommendation is the plain-language explanation for your client. Both are stored on the field; only the Amendment appears on the Finalise tab.
Can I save my own wording for reuse?
Not directly from a field. To make wording reusable, add a Recommendation in the Library, and from then on every review that triggers the matching rule will use it. See Managing Recommendations.
How do I remove a piece of advice from this review?
Click Show additional details on the field, then set Advice mode to None. The field is skipped on the Finalise tab and excluded from the report. To edit rather than remove it, choose Manual instead.
How do I turn a rule off for every future review?
The None option only affects the current review. To stop a rule from firing on any future contract, disable it in the Library. See Managing Recommendations.
